Tips for making the move with Burgo

When you are at the beginning of your downsizing journey, it’s important to investigate suitable living options that will be the perfect fit for the next stage of your life. It is an exciting time and it is important to take it at your own pace and consider everything carefully, from location to amenities so you can feel confident and thrilled for the journey ahead.

We spoke with John Burgess to find out his top tips for making a smooth transition into a new community within Arcadia Waters.

Some tips to consider are:

1) Consider what you love doing the most:
A retirement village allows you to have more free time, so it is important to find a community that substantiates your lifestyle requirements. From swimming pools to craft clubs to bowling greens and other onsite activities, you’ll find plenty of things to keep you engaged and entertained. Make a list of what your favourite hobbies are and ask about what social activities and facilities are available within each location.

2) Narrow down your personal care criteria:
Asking yourself what level of care services you need will help you choose a village so that you’ll get the help you want or may need later down the track, while maintaining autonomy and staying in control of your lifestyle. It could look like being as independent as you please or asking about an in-home carer option or an on-site hairdresser so you don’t have to leave the residence or a hand with home maintenance.

3) Consider your location:
The location of the village needs to suit your lifestyle. With five Arcadia Waters locations in Western Australia you may want to consider what views you want to see or how far it is located from your family and friends, what local amenities are close by, such as supermarkets, restaurants, transportation options, or medical facilities and whether the area is big on recreation facilities nearby like parks.

4) Other considerations:
Other things to consider are the security measures within the village, such as security gates, caravan storage and 24-hour after hour assistance. You may like to ask whether the village is pet-friendly, has trailer parking or if your family can use the facilities.

5) Explore the living and home options:
Once you have considered all the above and found a village right for you, consider what you want in your new Arcadia Waters home. We suggest talking with our friendly sales team who can help you determine this. Think about what you may need for the future such as a ground floor villa as opposed to a top floor, how much furniture you will have or if you may like a guest room for a family member to stay.

Once you have considered what village is right for you and everything you need and want in your new home make an appointment with our Sales Team who are happy to welcome visitors at a time that suits you.

You can make an appointment or attend one of our regular open days and take the opportunity to chat with our residents about what we have to offer! Please be sure to contact our sales team via 1800 88 98 35 or click here to make an appointment.
